Paying for location 3 Years, 1 Month ago
If you can't talk you way into a location for free, what's a good way to approach the owner (or security guard) with a cash offer? What's a fair price? (Or at least what is too little?) Anything to avoid?

That's a tough one.... so many variables involved.

1 - your real budget, if any...
2 - how bad you really want it
3 - where it is (LA vs Houston - everyone in LA has a "location fee" mentality)
4 - is it a commercial venue like a bar or hotel? is it possible to offer ad photography in trade?

I rarely pay location fees but I've done it from free to $500 for a good location for a complex job...
