Okay this is photography by an amazing Russian artist called Dou

I have no idea what techniques were used in this photo and would love to hear some thoughts.... she looks so unreal...

Well, actually if you read his biography it states that he mixes photography with design, noting that the skin is smoothed out and the hair/eyebrows are also taken away. I went through his entire portfolio that was available on that site and he does manip in his style. He is not trying to fool anyone into thinking this is pure photography.

Very nice and surreal works though, I like the neck series best and the freaks series.

Yes I read that in his biog all right but I mean, I wouldn't even know where to start to get a picture to use in a manipulation like that...

I was wondering what people thought of the lighting and how much they thought was real or shopped etc.
The whole face looks unreal to me, but I thought some of the photographers on here might be able to spot the untouched parts or at least the photo behind the edit, because I have no idea how heavy the editing is....

after also going through all that he has on his own site, I'm impressed at his skills with photo-manipulation as he does such a great job of plasticising the skin and adding false edges for the mannequin effect.

I'm tempted to hack at one of my shots to see if I can match it but I really doubt I'd be able to land on that same style.
